2012 is the year for New Caledonia, we had a very fast sail there due to a low pressure system below us for the entire trip across. Weather was on the starboard quarter for most of the passage making for a fast and rather damp crossing. We took just under six days for the 800 NM passage, usually it takes seven days. We spent the three months cruising mainly in the lagoon and moved progressively north to Kumac. When we were ready to leave we caught a bus back to Noumea to do the clearance formalities, then got a ride back to Kumac with friends. After leaving Kumac we were off to the Chesterfield Reef system for a few days before returning to Australia by way of the Port of Bundaberg to clear in. We decided to haul out at the Bundaberg Port Marina for a change and after the work was complete, we headed south to the Manly Harbour where we moored Quinco till the next cruising season.
